Kevin Carmichael si ritira dal mondo stunt

La notizia è freschissima: il 10 gennaio il noto stunt man Kevin Carmichael ha ufficializzato il suo ritiro dalla scena stunt mondiale.

Ecco le sue parole:

With a heavy heart and much sadness I want everyone to know that as of yesterday I have retired from being a stunt-rider.

To cut a long story short I got my MRI scan results back for my knee and just let’s say they were not good😥😥. So after talking to my family I think it’s best for myself and my sponsors that I stop now while I can. This is the 6th time I have had ligament and other problems with the same knee, and I know now it’s not clever to have no 7 !!

It’s been an amazing 21 years and I would not change a single day of it, and I will have memories and friends for life because of bikes. I would also like to thank my sponsors old and current for standing by me , it was , and always will be very appreciated.

I will now be focusing my heart on becoming the best car stunt driver I can be. As some of you know I have been training with cars for a while now , but never expected to be changing at this point in time, but believe me I will be training really really hard in the near future and will be driving with the same commitment I had on 2 wheels !!

I will also now be organising more bike tours , so if anyone knows anyone that needs an old slow tour guide let me know I might even still be tempted to sometimes go a little fast and pull the odd wheelie 👌👌

La causa di questa decisione, come si legge qui sopra, è di forza maggiore: dopo il sesto (!) infortunio allo stesso ginocchio non era infatti il caso di andare oltre, troppo rischioso, e per i suoi fans e i suoi sponsors ha preferito chiudere qui la sua carriera.

Kevin Carmichael è stato uno dei maggiori esponenti nello stunt con le moto, ed è stato legato al marchio Triumph per tantissimi anni, tanto da esserne ancora una vera icona, nonostante negli ultimi anni fosse passato a KTM. Le sue moto preferite erano la Speed Triple e la Street Triple, ma si è esibito anche con Bonneville, Tiger 800 (anche con il trittico di valigie montato!) e la Rocket III.

A nome di tutti gli appassionati non possiamo che ringraziarlo per tutte le emozioni che ci ha dato tramite i suoi spettacoli, sempre esagerati, originali e in cui pare ignorasse le leggi della fisica.

Come promesso da lui stesso però lo vedremo ancora in sella, ma sotto vesti diverse: organizzerà infatti tour guidati in giro per il mondo. Speriamo che per parteciparvi non sia necessario avere doti di guida come le sue, altrimenti sarà dura!
